2020 Presentations
April: The Nashville Chapter of AHMP hosted a virtual meeting Thursday, April 23, 2020. The speaker was Shalene Thomas and she presented: Per- and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances (PFAS): Update on regulatory and scientific developments from a National Perspective. Ms. Shalene Thomas, PMP, is the Global Emerging Contaminant Program Manager for Wood with more than 20 years of experience in environmental consulting that includes 12 years of experience supporting per- and polyfluoroalkyl substance (PFAS) evaluations. She has extensive program and project management, human health risk assessment, data management, GIS and 3D visualization and animation experience and has supported State, Federal and industrial clients with PFAS evaluations. She serves as Wood’s PFAS Work Group Lead and has supported PFAS projects in 32 different states in 9 of the 10 USEPA regions as well as in Europe, Australia and Canada. She also serves at the Co-Lead for AFFF on the Interstate Technology & Regulatory Council (ITRC) PFAS Team. Get the presentation PDF here.
August: The Nashville Chapter of AHMP hosted a virtual meeting Thursday, August 20,, 2020. The speaker was Dr. Dan Grove and he presented on Chronic Wasting Disease in deer. In 2018, Dr. Grove joined the University of Tennessee and the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency to serve in a joint position. He currently serves as the wildlife health specialist for UT Extension and the wildlife veterinarian for TWRA. He works on wildlife health issues across the state.
